iPod water damage repair

One of the most dreadful things that can happen to an iPod in the course of its lifespan is getting wet.  In this case, it is not about getting damp from your sweating hands or rain drops.  It might get into the pool as you swim or your kid may drop it into a glass of water. The main question that many ask is what to do with the gadget in the event of water damage. The first thing to do when your pricey iPod drowns in water, is to minimize the damage but how? Here is how to go about it;

  • Reach out for it and turn it off immediately that is if it is still on.  More damage to the interior components will be prevalent if the electronic is on after it has been immersed in water. Fortunately, iPods tend to be thinner than other electronic gadgets, but this does not mean that water has not penetrated inside.
  • If the water was spilled on the equipment, just wipe off the liquid as soon as possible before it gets into the interior.
  • Remove the battery and place the device in rice. It might sound crazy but it actually works.  Ideally, you should put rice in a zip-lock bag large enough to accommodate the rice and the iPod. Then, place the device in it and leave it for a few days.  The rice will draw all the moisture that might be trapped in the device. Alternatively, you can fill the bag with Silica gel that is if you can access it.
  • Disassemble it and dry the parts- This option works fast, but it is best if you are well acquainted with electronics before you try this one.  If you are confident about yourself, separate the parts and dry them either with a dryer or in a bag of rice.
  • Try apple repair services- Owing to the uncertainties that are attached to the aforementioned methods, some people are left with no choice but to consult a professional when their iPods are submerged in water. There are benefits to accrue when you entrust the device to an expert. For instance, they will be in a position to point out other problems that could have been caused by the water. Although, the Apple warranty policy does not cover water damage, they are known to give quality iPod water damage repair services.
Therefore, you do not have to go through the agony of repairing the device on your own. Instead, leave it to the experts; they never disappoint.
